Immaculate Take a Stand Award

We are so proud to announce that Immaculate Nyashema, of Thirteen: A Social Enterprise has been awarded the "Take a Stand" award from the RBC Spirit of the Capital Youth Awards. Immaculate took a stand at her High School against the systemic oppression that existed in the forms of policies and dress codes that prohibited her and her classmates from wearing headscarves prominent in their cultures. She started the first Black Excellence Club at her school and continued to lead and advocate for herself and her classmates. You can watch Immaculate receive her award on:
