
Ethiopian Berbere Beef Tibs
Beef Tibs
We have shared this recipe many times. It is a Thirteen favourte for sure. Most frequently we have shared it through cooking workshops with OCDSB for teachers PD day training and then recently we joined a food and culture class at South Carlton highschool.
This dish is great to serve at a party or as part of a family meal with other great Ethiopian recipes to eat along with your Injera. Also pictured is how we served it individually portioned at our recent AGM.
Ingredients:
- Beef, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 onions thinly sliced
- Thirteen Berbere Spice Mix
- Ground Ginger
- Ground Cumin
- Black pepper
- Sliced tomatoes
- Green chiles, such as jalapenos or serranos
- Niter Kebbeh or ghee spiced butter
Instructions:
- Add Beef to non stick pan, no oil
- Once meat juice is gone add oil
- Once meat is browned add onions
- Stir add salt and Berbere
- Add tomatoes and jalapeno stir
- Add niter kebbeh (optional)
