Berbere burger with egg salad

Have you ever looked at your refrigerator well full and still not find anything to eat? Yes? Me too! This recipe is the result of an afternoon where my refrigerator was desperately full. Berbere/Pili Pili can be used to add a rich flavor to your fridge finds. 


Ingredients:

Salad:

  • ¼ of avocado
  • ¼  of green pepper, yellow pepper and red pepper, cubed 
  • ½ tomato, diced 
  • ¼ cucumber, diced 
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of berbere or  pili pili
  • Hot sauce 
  • Salt/ pepper (for taste )

Hamburger:

  • 2 tbs Oil (frying) 
  • 1 frozen uncooked beef burger patties
  • 1 teaspoon of chicken broth base
  • Salt and pepper (To taste)
  • 1 Tbs berbere
  • Hamburger bun
  • A slice of tomato
  • A lettuce leaf
  • A handful of cheese cheddar

Instructions

Salad


Boil the eggs for 20 minutes at high heat. In a bowl add avocado, bell peppers, cucumber and the diced tomato. Once the eggs boiled, cut them in dice and add them to the salad. sprinkle thirteen berbere/pili pili spice, a few drops of hot sauce and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix it all with a big spoon.



Hamburger

 

1. In a cast-iron skillet heat 2 table spoons of oil over medium high heat. 

2. Season beef burger patties with salt, pepper, berbere and chicken broth base and cook 5 minutes on each side. 

3. Serve on grilled hamburger buns with lettuce, tomato and cheddar cheese.

4. Plate it and serve. Enjoy!
