Recipe by Charlotte and Esther
We chose this recipe because it is easy to make and because of our personal preference for beef. It is our favourite food. We also paired it with a lentil dish that you can find here. We saw something similar to this recipe somewhere else and it looked really delicious. I thought I would try it with Thirteen’s Berbere spice. It has a good kick to it and is really satisfying to eat.
500g of sirloin beef
Lemon juice from one lemon
1 ½ cups of Soy sauce
1 tsp pepper
1 garlic clove, minced
1 tbsp Berbere
Cut the steak into thin strips
In a bowl, mix soy sauce, lemon juice, garlic, and Thirteen’s Berbere spice mix.
Add beef strips to the bowl and let marinate for at least 30 minutes.
Add a fair amount of oil to the frying pan, about half a centimeter and wait for it to heat up.
Put the steak into the hot oil.
I like to eat this steak cooked to well done and crispy on all sides but it can also be cooked rare. One minute on each side should do.
