About the position
The Mino’Weesini Grocery Program Assistant position aims to provide meaningful employment experience to youth seeking support to overcome employment barriers. Supervision and mentorship will allow you to grow your skills, confidence and experience and work towards identified goals. This position is for 30 hours per week for 17 weeks, beginning October 31, with the possibility of extension. This position is remunerated at a rate of $18.60/hour.
General hours of work are Monday-Friday 9am-4pm with the requirement of one evening per week, but the position will require flexibility with occasional evenings and weekends.
Duties and responsibilities
- Assist in setting up and closing up the grocery program, including unloading deliveries of food and loading food orders into and out of delivery vehicles
- Perform weekly inventory of cleaning and office supplies, place replenishment orders as needed
- Stock shelves, sort produce and arrange items to ensure smooth and safe packing process
- Carry out administrative functions necessary to support the smooth running of the grocery program
- Provide phone reception services and take orders for neighbours requesting delivery or pick up of food orders
- Organize deliveries and liaise with partners to coordinate daily delivery routes.
- Record grocery orders in online registration system
- Pack grocery orders and stock shelves as needed.
- Provide on-site volunteer training/assistance and guidance as required
- Clean the premises, shelves and fridges
- Monitor temperature of fridges and freezers
- Rotate within different volunteer functions such as greeter, shopper, intake and others as required
- Attend staff meetings; trainings; events as appropriate
- Role model professional behavior and positive communication with neighbours, volunteers and staff team members
- Contribute to a culture of health, safety, kindness and compassion
- Engage with neighbours and volunteers to foster a sense of community and belonging
- Support neighbours to access PFC programs and services and navigate resources as needed and appropriate
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

- You are physically able to work on your feet for long periods and can regularly lift and carry boxes weighing over 40lbs.
